I only have 47 working flashlights right now so I'm in for 20. I actually took three steps in my house last week and only stepped on 4 flashlights so I knew it was time to re up.

Not sure about this exact flashlight, but from experience with others:

18650 = 4.2V fresh to 3.7V stable
3 AAA = 1.5V (when new) * 3 = 4.5V on downwards linearly

The 3 AAA will eventually degrade to sub 3.7V, so the flashlight won't have 400 lumen for long, unless you use NiMH rechargeables or something that tend to have a flat discharge curve.

It's more the single cell ones, where you can substitute a AA for a 14650, where you run into the big initial lumen differences by not using a lithium battery.

6 modes?!
hm.. looks like you can hide the 3 strobe modes

$5 is a good middle of the pack price for 400 lumens?
($2 ebay gets you a Q5 led that does 200lumens)

also, is it 400lumens on 18650 battery only?
if so, how many lumens on 3 AAA?

Just tell yourself it's only $4 (with batteries) after the $1 No Rush credit. That's what I did.
