Thanks for posting! Am I correct that this light is for planted/freshwater, not corals/saltwater?

Hi Slu71, yeah these are designed for fresthwater. The link I put in to drsfostersimth has a link to the salt version also on sale at good prices, then the added 10% off over 75. I'm not certain however however the PAR and what coral they would support. FOWLR they would take care of you fine however. If you want to get some more difficult corals I would read up on them.

These lights are fantastic, and a bargain when you consider not needing to replace them frequently like you do florescents.

Indeed, not to mention that the planted + 24/7 models have timers that automatically ramp the lighting up and down and give a sunrise / sunset effect on their own. Pretty cool lights.

I have had this for 2 years. Could use one or two physical buttons otherwise good light and a bargain at this price. I paid twice as much. Waiting for smart hub compatible ones so I can fully automate and also control thru Alexa.

Good light but will cause high algae growth if set light on too long.

Would this beat a 15m strip of 5630 LEDs in an alumnium U channel?

I suppose this might be true in some scenarios. Of course with proper tank maintenance and water changes you can also avoid a lot of potential algae growth. Plus these are not on 24/7 they ramp up and down through the course of the day and the SE turns fully off for a portion of the night.

I would assume so as this has multiple rows of LED's and setup differnetly. Plus this has features mentioned. Remote, ramping sunrise sunset etc.

This is cheaper probably because of the new version is out. Good deal though.
