Got two of these last year ($49 gold box deal, iirc). They are great, but would not recommend using in open water /windy conditions. They just catch too much air. I use in Chesapeake Bay, but only on calm days. I imagine these are fine for most lakes and rivers

I'll comment bc I have one and have told others to get it. As far as price, there usually is a seller or two on ebay quite frequently selling them around this, so isn't exactly slick as have to add tax.

As far as the product itself: surprisingly well built and recommend this one over the Challenger model as from my understanding this one stays dryer. It is way nicer than what I thought it would be for the price. It is also stable, you would have to work to flip this over (if in calm water). At this size it isn't the best at tracking however and wouldn't take it much past bay, can even do ocean like I have if calmer. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking it too far offshore as well inflatable and isn't the fastest one especially if where you live has weather which conditions can change suddenly.

The pump that comes with it doesn't take long, was going to get an electric but realistically easier just to inflate by the water than wherever you have to park your car and then move an inflated one. It comes with plastic strips to measure on the tubes to make sure you don't over inflate.

Those seats can go out and come in, when running it by myself sometimes (also have people in it at even 400+ pounds total no issues), I do two things. Leave the front seat out (while moving the back one to the furthest forward position), and combine the two oar poles that snap together into one to make it longer and easier to paddle.

As far as the rudder or whatever you want to call it, many people drill a hole into it and tie it to the yak so in case it comes off it doesn't get lose. Mine got jammed that it won't come off anyhow so I leave it.

Lastly, stay compliant with your local laws. Some places make you have a life jacket (never a bad idea in general) for each passenger as well as one whistle for the vessel. Having a light on board isn't a bad idea either. Generally due to this size you don't have to register it either as a water vessel unless under the power of a motor.

Unrelated to all of this, make sure to check your plug each time and make sure it is in. Forgot once was in the middle of the bay, and well luckily that is as far as I was when I noticed.

If you're implying that I'm a schill, a few moments to look at my other posts would certainly prove you wrong.

If you're hiring me to take you to the deserted island, well.... I'll accept the position.

I'd like to agree with a previous poster by saying that these really do catch the air. Windy conditions are pretty tough to paddle in. I also wouldn't be surprised if a loaded-down boat could capsize in small white caps.

I now have two of these. If you need something portable to just get out on the water they are cheap and great. If you want something that tracks well save a few hundred more... I think they're great for what they are and how much they cost.

This is a great price (I have a deal alert for this price from before I bought mine). This is AWESOME for putting into checked luggage (35 lbs with paddles and pump). We took one to Tampa and paddled out to a deserted island where we camped. Two people, a tent, small cooler and some other gear and we were able to comfortable paddle about a mile or so across the bay. Once we got our tandem paddling under control, we were able to move pretty nicely.

Strongly recommend this for specific purposes at this price. It also works with one person and some gear in the front. We are considering getting two so we can easily carry more gear.

Thanks for the post!

Looks like Walmart also has these for $80 with free shipping. I think I'll order from there in case I need to return to the store.

This is a rock-solid price you won't see it blow a hundred again until after the summer. Great product to we've been using it for a couple of years without issue
