Thinking about jumping on the 34in ultrawide qhd monitors. Meaning towards the LG but I don't know much about it.

Could someone tell me why the Samsung costs significantly more? Is it just the brand?

I do play games like overwatch, but mainly looking for a nice monitor for daily use. Some Adobe editing as hobby, watching streams and Blu-ray.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes. You need to pay extra for the Samsung logo. I will go LG. Since LG make good computer monitor than Samsung.

I think the Samsung 34" has 100hz refresh compared to LG is only 60hz

Don't. Don't go ultrawide if you play overwatch. I sold my ultrawide because it doesn't correctly support 21:9. I did however buy a 32 inch samsung 2560x1440, 144hz monitor. Was $499 on amazon. I'd suggest that if anything.

I currently use an Acer X34P one of the two best 34" Ultrawides on the market along with the alienware aw3418dw. Both run around $1000 depending on locality. Everything else is vastly cheaper with the sweet spot being in the $600 range.

I did a ton of research and personal evaluation and I can tell you the key differences between these prices are the VA panel vs IPS and the top models being 120hz capable vs 75-100hz.

The other night I ran CSGO on a VA panel versus IPS and the slight motion blur and ghosting on the VA panels became too much for me. If you're comfortable with VA then its worth looking into if youre coming from IPS I guarantee you'll hate it.

As for this Samsung specifically the reason it keeps getting pricecuts is because the user reviews are appalling especially with regard to dead/burned pixels and samsungs RMA experience. I don't always follow that. I've been using Acer monitors on and off for years and never had an issue where others swear theyre the devil incarnate.

I would recommend if you decide to jump on this prepare to burn it in intensely asap so you can return it if issues occur before newegg will take it back. Microcenter also has the Acer 347CKR 100hz for 549.99 if you have one local.

I second this, I have this same 34 inch samsung monitor too. I kinda regret my purchase a bit too since I was gonna play a lot of OW.

Also plus if you're planning to use this monitor to the fullest for gaming with freesync, 3440x1440 and 100hz, amd cards are still very expensive too.

If you have a 1070 or above you should be able to push 144hz and not need gsync. The panel I have is freesync, so I can't use that part. However, on a 1080, 4670k, and 16gb of 2400mhz ram I can stay very close to the magic range and not have any tearing. fark gsync premium

If you had the money to spend on these monitors, which would you suggest? I'm really just looking for a beautiful 34 inch UW that isn't going to cost me a grand. Thoughts?

I'd do the 34 ips ultra wide. Playing games on ultra wide is so awesome. and 100hz + even better, I personally will wait for a 120hz+ ips ultra wide monitor, I feel like I'd miss out on the for drop, I can tell when my games drop from 144+ to 90-120fps.

It says it's added. Its not actually 21:9. Your fov is zoomed in. You're playing at a disadvantage. They have no plans to change that.

it was working correctly in the beta, after beta it was yanked, then put back in. However, it is botched and will never be actual 21:9 support

I stand corrected then... That sucks... I don't usually play ow on my ultra wide ( only 60hz ). Usually use my qhd 144hz

It doesn't make much sense. They claim it's an unfair advantage, which sure maybe a little. But every other blizzard title has 21:9 support lol.
