There is no true correlation between suit size and waist size. 32 waist size for 38R? I mean shorter people are not skinnier.

Any time you see Lauren before Ralph Lauren, it's cheaply made clothing. If that's what you're looking for that's fine but don't think this is a great deal. This is about the same quality as any other suit in this price range.
Definitely not "original 650" lol

Why is this the case? What brand would you recommend

Do some quick research on half canvas, full canvas suits and brands. The material and lack of canvassing on a suit like this will give it that "square" look that will give it away as a cheap suit right away. Even with proper tailoring (which would cost almost as much as this suit) it's still going to look cheap.
I'm not knocking it. If you need a suit and can only spend $199 on one this is fine. I just don't want anyone to fall for the "originally over $600" marketing gimmick. This is just like any other suit you can get anywhere at this price range.

As for what brand I like, I'm partial to Brooks Brothers, but they are considerably more expensive so not comparable.

"Lauren Ralph Lauren" is licensed, and a lower-end brand for department stores.

While it's true that these are almost certainly fused construction, which makes it stiffer, there aren't many deals on decent all-wool suits in this price range. So people need to decide what they are willing to spend given how they use it and what they want.

Fused vs canvassed:

What Does This Mean to me Anyway?

The real reason to buy a good, canvassed suit is for love of dressing well. Because of advancing construction technology, there isn't necessarily a huge advantage for canvassed jackets anymore: a good fused jacket can last awhile and is often much, much cheaper than a similar canvassed jacket.

However, I stand by my preference of canvassed jackets for three reasons:

1. Canvassed jackets look better on you.

2. Higher-end manufacturers using canvassed construction tend to have a better mastery of style and cut.

3. Canvassed jackets generally last longer.

This makes sense – those companies willing to invest the time in making a better-quality suit also have the history to understand how a suit should be properly cut and constructed. And if you're going to make the investment in a suit, you want to look your best.
It likely matters more if you're (for example) interviewing for a job at a professional firm.

Personally, I wonder if people who judge someone else based on their suit jacket is fused are the same people who worry about whether their hands are smaller than the other guy's.

But like anything, it's nice to use quality stuff.

Lol it's not about judging. I just wanted to put a PSA out there for anyone who doesn't know the difference but would spend $200 on this thinking that they are getting a great deal on a $600+ suit like the add says. It's not that. This is just a $200 suit that's "on sale" for $200. Like I said, if you want a $200 suit there's nothing at all wrong with that and most people don't need a $600 suit anyway. This, IMO is not a great bargain. That's all.

Dude, it's $130. $130. That's a big difference. If you have a better deal on an all wool suit that isn't hideous, post away.

Classic-fit junk
This is very true. People downvoted EggplantWizard because they have no idea about suiting in general. Classic fit makes you look extremely cheap. Keep it up, EggplantWizard.
