(Mx130 = 940mx) < (mx150 = gtx1030)

So its just ok. Albeit 4gb of vram.

being that you can get inspiron 7000 series with gtx 1060s and 1050tis in this price area this price seems very meh.

I think you are getting confused about the processors. There are two series of 8th generation Processors, one is U series having 15W of TDP and just a refresh of previous generation Kaby Lake, but with 4 Cores. These you see in the thin and light laptops like these. Just because they are 8th generation, that does not mean they perform better than 7th generation HQ series Processors like i5-7300HQ andi7-7700HQ because the later has TDP of 45W, 3 times higher than U series and can run on turbo mode with higher frequency for far longer than the U series CPU. The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series laptops I was referring, comes with either i5-7300HQ and i7-7700HQ and more powerful than i5-8250U. But you will loose the battery life due to higher power consumption. There is no combination exists with 15W 8th generation Quad Core + GTX 1060, apart from Surface Book 2, costing near $2000.

Now regarding the 8th Generation HQ series processors (45W TDP) based on Coffee Lake architecture, they have been released jsut couple of weeks back wih Core i5 as powerful as last generations Quad core i7 and i7 is 6 Core instead of quad core in nature. They are pretty costly now and with a 8th gen i7 + GTX 1060 will be around $1100.

But, I am not sure, for what purpose you are buying the laptop in the first place, whether for productivity or gaming or multimedia. Your decision should be based on that rather than purely based on configuration available in market.

I don't think so. However, it will be more or less similar with the normal Inspiron 7000 series 15 2-in-1 in terms of build quality, Display and material used.

The Acer Aspire E 15 is better than this, $599 for 15 hour battery and mx150.

Since the subtotal is $685.99 (< $699), can you actually use the 50OFF699 coupon for this deal?

I prefer the ASUS VivoBook S510 yesterday for 1lb lighter and $100 dollar less. The dedicate graphic card does not help much on non gaming application.
