A 1050 for over $1000. Are you out of your mind? I bought a Dell with 1050 and similar specs for around $350 during black Friday so I wouldn't pay anymore then $600 for this right now. Buy HP SPECTRE, HP envy or Dell XPS if you are willing to pay this much. Those are better quality then yoga, I prefer hp over dell just fyi

This is a really good price, BUT literally every single 4K unit for the 720 15" develops a black line across the top of the screen. Happened to me in my first week of ownership. Only fix is to send it in to Lenovo and they replace the screen. You can google it and see that it happens to literally everyone.

Other than that, it's a really damn good laptop

And this guy is here for thread crapping with no knowledge of what is the target for these kind of premium Laptops or 2-in-1s, providing best in the class performance without compromising portability abd battery life. As per them all gaming laptops are the best deal and all premium productivity laptops like Dell XPS 15, HP Spectre X2, Microsoft Surface Book 2 are the worst laptops because they have similar hardware which can be found in a $900 gaming laptop.

They don't understand that these laptops provide top notch build quality, high quality display panels. flexibility of 2-in-1, longer battery life and very high performance without sacrificing the form factor, portability and battery life. To these people, Dell Inspiron 15 gaming is better than XPS 15, HP Spectre X2 or Yoga 720 / Ideapad 720S 15 because the hardware configuration is same...
Grow up and learn something about different types of laptops in the market before posting the nonsense here.

I do have the laptop and purchased it last year when this deal popped up for the first time. Paied $1300 initially and then Best Buy price matched it to $1200. I don't have the issue you are talking about, it is probably issue with a newer batch.

I got one of these in "excellent" condition for like $1100 a couple days ago but it had all sorts of issues - backlight bleed, didn't quite lay flat in laptop mode or tablet mode, and some parts of the case were misaligned.

I returned it and found one is "satisfactory" condition at another best buy, it was $960 I believe, and the build quality is much higher so I'm keeping this one.

Lenovo's QC is all over the place so test it carefully before your 14 days are up. And don't get any with a build date before October 2017 to avoid the black bar issue, you don't want anything to do with one of those even if it was repaired.

If you do your homework it's an excellent deal for what you get. Yes if you just want specs you can find better for sure, but as far as high end 2 in 1s? The kind of shopper who is considering a Spectre or XPS? This deal gets you better specs for less. The new Kaby Lake G chips might be comparable to this Yoga but they're charging silly prices for those. As always in tech, last year's high end is where the real deals are.

Recommend undervolting the 7700HQ by 130-150mV as well to improve battery life. Once you do this this it will idle under 1W and becomes a strictly superior CPU to the 8550U.

Can you provide me some good guide for undervolting the CPU? I have not done it and the battery draw is a bit higher.

You can either use Throttlestop or XTU. I prefer Throttlestop since I think it runs a bit more lean in the background. Here's a good guide: https://www.notebookcheck.net/How...140.0.html

I just bought one it was an open box for 1079, wondering how I can possibly check that everything is working perfect on it?

No idea why this got thumbs down. I bought a similar model back during BF straight from lenovo. I didn't get the 4K w/ gpu version - instead my build was 13.3" 8th gen i7 w/ 512gb SSD and 16GB ram with 4year accident warranty for $900. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The build quality on these things is top notch. I've had the HP referenced above and it just didn't feel as nice or sturdy. Also had an XPS with similar specs but couldn't get close to that price when adding in the 4 year accidental warranty (which was a "must have" for me).

Unless I'm mistaken you can buy a 3rd party warranty (ie square trade) for this too.

So maybe this isn't SUPER slick, but it's definitely a good deal for a yoga 720 which rarely go on sale.

Everything said here is spot on as I've experienced the same thing.

Use Intel ETU to undervolt.
I'm running it at -.140v right now and it's stable. Package temp is 45C at idle.

Where is the pistol to blow my brains out. In a different world where competence meant life and death. The people who made this laptop would be dragged out by their hair and executed. 2 Lane thunderbolt 3?? Why not Just stab a knife in a pregnant women? Why not just pull your pants down in a fancy restaurant and defecate? 2 lane thunderbolt is unnatural and entirely incompetent. All these windows laptop makers have no brain. I have yet to see ONE decent implementation of thunderbolt where everything is perfect. I guess only Apple has brains in this business. This is utterly disgusting I don't know why it's upvoted. Egpu is the future and these guys messed up their product for the future

Check CPU temp under full load. Shouldn't be more than 70C.
Measure fan noise at full load. Shouldn't be more than 20dB when measuring 2 inches from the base of the screen.
Check backlight bleed.
Check hinge alignment.
Check if the screen closes evenly all away around.
Check the display manufacturer. Should be BOE.

And open boxes should be had for less than $850 these days.
