No way was it this double battery kit at that price but i did get it for $399 last sale. It's a great mower and i salvaged my junk gas one to get a $200 rebate in SocaL. I can mow my front and back on 1 battery almost 7k sq foot

Was it the model with just 1 4 Ah battery or the model with 2?

This. An awesome mower which I have. Very well balanced weight and it roll soooo easily. You will love it. I highly recommend getting a composite deck instead of a steel deck. Echo blower is pretty good too if you decide to expand and you'll end up with three batteries.

I'm not sure if it was $279 last year but it was $299 a few times last year and that was with 2 batteries and the charger because that's the price I bought it for (got it around Memorial Day). So I would hold off. It's a really good mower and I can usually cut front and back with 1 battery. Make sure to check Home Depot refurbished Echo products as well as I bought the Echo trimmer that came with a charger and battery. If you need extra batteries check out eBay as I was able to get one for less than $80 last year (much cheaper than in the stores).

You can buy a gas mower for a lot less and no need to worry about batteries.

I had this and the echo weedeater, ended up going with Ego because I sold this and weedeater and got a good deal on the Ego. I now have the Ego mower trimmer and blower. Both are about the same the ego is a little better quality in the feels department, the ego is a little better mower imo power wise and battery wise. The echo is a better weedeater I think from a power perspective but also not very well balanced. Hard to go wrong with either, the Ego stores much better also for less footprint in my garage,

To the above poster I would NEVER buy a gas mower again, both are better in every way than my Snapper gas mower.

How does this compare to the greenworks twin force? I am a big torn between this or the twin force.

Then you just have to worry about gasoline, oil changes, spark plugs, consistently starting, always storing it horizontally, and pushing a much heavier mower.

It's not a hassle at all. 2 gallons of gas lasts a year. An oil change every few years isn't a big deal. Spark plugs are $3 and I just change them once every year. Starting issues are usually from rusted floats or storing with ethonal gas. Either pull the cover off the float and wipe it down with alcohol at the beginning of the season or use chevron techron additive with the gas. Total time invested every year? Maybe an hour... Less time than constantly charging a battery.
