You could look into porting your phone # to Google Voice and then use that for your Obihai device (as well as forwarding calls to your new cell phone #). Obihai works very well with Google Voice.

I have horrific cellular service at my home in the suburbs and often drop calls (have tried both Verizon and ATT).

Is there a way this could be set up to work with an existing phone number - I'm assuming that is what call forwarding is, but wanted to confirm!

I love mine. I have one port setup with Google Voice (which also rings my cell) and another port setup using my old Verizon number ported to PhonePower. I can't say that PP is the best but they've worked really well for me.

Can either call forward with this (after setting up a VoIP service like Google Voice) or get a phone that supports WiFi calling (provider also has to support it) so you can route calls through your home network instead of the cell tower. Or port your number like the other person said. It costs 20 for porting to Google Voice.

What does the LAN port as an option give you? Something the OBi200 doesn't have.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see the LAN port is mostly intended for connecting to a computer. The OBi could then act as a router, where the cable modem is connected to the OBI's Internet port directly, without a router in between.

The lan port is effectively useless on this unless you have a low speed dsl connection or similar. It can't handle anything more than about 20-30 mbps.

I have this hooked up wirelessly to Google voice in my basement office. I'm trying to figure out how to hook up a fax machine to it. I searched Google but can't find anything.

I just simply plug the fax machine into one of the phone ports and it "just works."

There was a site I used that monitored for Google voice numbers when they become available. It might be a Google service I don't remember but that's how I was able to get my FL google voice phone number.

How does caller ID work with Google voice?

Do I need to have my contacts in Google voice?

What if someone calls and is not in my Google voice? Will it show in caller ID
