To resolve wi-fi disconnects and general instability, the German TP-Link website offers several versions of their firmware update tool downloads:

Make sure to put these things on a vlan or at least on a guest network. Smilie

No complaints from our single unit of these besides the higher cost. The larger side is somewhat lame but something you can usually work around.

I can attest to the 15 Amps. When the central air went out we ran a window unit though one of these. It was nice to trigger to turn on about an hour before coming home or manual after a vacation. Didn't do that for to long but it worked

I have bought the cheaper ones and they have poor wi-fi range. TP-Link has a much greater range. If I was you I would buy TP-Link especially if you are greater than 20ft from your router! it was frustrating to set up the cheaper ones and have them eventually show 'weak wi-fi' signal! Peace

Decent deal for higher end smart outlets. Been using 3 of these with Home Assistant for lights for a few months and they've been working well.

Why spend so much more than the other deal for around $15? They both have about the same review rating

This is a good product and good deal. I just set some to link switches like these up with Google home mini=awesome. I think this item was about $24 each on Amazon the other day.

Also some competitor products on Amazon or otherwise are not UL listed or UL approved...I'd be Leary of one not UL listed don't want to start a fire...

These support 15 amps where most are 8-10 amps, that's pretty nice. They're a little bulky and don't appear to have energy monitoring (?), though.

Tp link might also have better support. More security patches etc than the off brands

I own 2 of these and 2 of the cheaper Chinese variety... So far (only 2 weeks with the Chinese ones) all 4 work flawlessly. I might stay going cheap, we'll see.
