Solid deal. I bought this on clearance at Costco months ago for about the same price and its been great. 1440 gaming is the sweet spot (4k requires too much GPU). This has all the bells and whistles you want in a good monitor if you have a nvidia card. IPS, 1440, 165hz, and g-sync.

Yeah.... this isn't a post about budget gear though.

That said, 1440p @ 27 inch is close in pixel density to 24in 1080p. Roughly 110 ppi vs 90 (with 1440p still being denser). The point being, that people prefer 1080p to get the more beneficial higher frame rate easier, but if you got the system for it (read: not budget) and you can still get 120+ fps @ 1440p then thats a larger advantage depending on the game.

For example, in PUBG, you very much have the advantage the more you can see so you should be aiming to game on the highest resolution possible while keeping a minimum of 120fps.

Folks that claim 1080p is best simply are trying to convince themselves and their wallet thats the apex of performance. It is with a lower budget, not a higher one. Not all games really benefit the player either at a higher, but most games do look better - so there isnt a reason to hold back if you think higher than 1080p will somehow hurt you. It wont.

Great monitor, bought it for $599 and have no regrets. Could be a little better looking physically, but the picture is top notch!

Using this monitor right now. I can't decide if I should get another one or wait for a curved 34"

I have the TN version for this for the lower response time. Everything is pretty soild, the swivel is a little annoying to set up but after that it's good to go.

I have the following monitor which has free-sync, is 1440 and 144hz. Recently upgraded to a Nvidia 1080. Will I see much of an improvement with this monitor having g-sync and IPS?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...6824236593

Thanks for any advice.

Is this monitor too much if right now I'm sporting an i5-3570k and Nvidia 970 (4GB) (0.5 scam RAM)?

I'm pretty particular to 1080p gaming, and wasn't sure if jumping to 2k was even worth it since I like playing competitive shooters.

$595 with CA tax and disposal fee? Still a good deal? This checks off all the boxes for me.

I was wondering the same and ended up buying it yesterday. 1440p at medium settings on this looks much better than ultra settings at 1080p. I'm trying to fight my urge to buy a 1080ti and wait for the new gpu's but wanted a new monitor. I didn't drop below 60fps when running Destiny 2 on medium settings. I'm using my Gtx 970

I kinda forgot to mention that right now I'm using the Acer KG240 as my main monitor @144 hz. So, high frames is pretty important to me. I can't fathom going back to 60 for gaming.

In gaming, I honestly don't care for higher resolution. I think it makes more sense to stick to 1080p with a higher refresh rate if you're on a budget and want maximum bang for buck.

Agreed. Going to 144hz seemed like a huge upgrade to me. Love it.

Yeah, most gaming monitors are a good excuse for a monitor arm. I don't know what the designers are thinking.
