FYI - recommend avoiding used gen-1 Arlos. Too many issues w/gen-1, CR123 batteries are pricey and the kit does not include rechargeable batteries.

Yup, I had the same problem. I ended up buying the Arlo 2 and it's been great.

Thanks note taken. Good thing I didn't jump on these then. I've been looking at security cameras. Arlos a so expensive. What are your thoughts on the Ankers that are in kickstart right now? I may hold off.. I'm cheap/broke.

HI DarthBron

Don't trust promises when you're tight on money.

Better get a known good product.

Take some time if you're not under an immediate threat to figure out what will work best for your situation. Remember deals will come back again, so no hurry to jump on any right now.

Best most reliable solution will be a wired one.

I'd like to do wired but I'm intimidated with running wires behind my walls. I don't have a crawl space so I'm not sure how I'd fish them through. Thanks for the information!

Hi Darth,

You can run cables in conduit on the outside,
If you have a little room between the roof and ceiling you can use 3/4" grey PVC conduit and push from one opening to the corners of your home and then pull cable through the conduit.

If you own the home, it is completely worth the effort to cable it if you're looking for a reliable solution.

Hi Gotomo,

Arlo gen-1 has serious issues, and with the replacement battery costs your wallet will get drained over time. Considering the time you spend setting up, maintaining, changing batteries, re-syncing, dealing with service outages, watching videos which failed to capture the thief, ... well your time should be worth some value, and when you take that into account I can understand why even at "free" someone would find it a PITA to have these.

naturally, at free - some of us would be ok with them as we probably don't mind spending the money on batteries and value our time and service problems with this less.
