Amazon's choice means absolutely nothing. It is just the top search result for a particular search term. In this case the seller manipulated it by being the top search result for "iPhone cable 5 pack".

They are NOT the top choice for iPhone cables and they're not even certified by Apple. Use these cables at your own risk.

I would avoid non MiFi. It's better to buy one that is MiFi approved (non Apple) than 4 non approved ones.

MFi is only useful if you're going to connect this to a computer or music dock, etc. I think most people (including myself) getting these are using it for charging, which MFi does not matter much.
Again this call is absolutely up to the consumer. I used to use non certified cables before. Some were better than others. Some got really hot when plugged in. The final nail in the coffin was when on a whim, I started testing a few non Mfi against certified cables on their charging rates. When you hook up a volt meter to non certified cables, you will amazed at the amount of variation in terms of charging rates (within the same brand sometimes) under load.
Again this might not be a deal breaker for most but that test twisted my arm on this topic. I would never buy an Apple oem cable as I can buy better quality Mfi certified cables for cheap.

Yup. This deal isn't even that bad if you know what you're getting yourself into.

There's even worse deals double this price, that are also not mfi certified. And the difference is just that the shillers have fake accounts posting how good the deal is.

Slickdeals has become a place where you have to watch yourself because buyer manipulation comes from the highest levels of SD itself.

I just bought a set without reading too deeply. The plan is to just take these with me when we visit family, so my kids don't end up fighting with their cousins over who stole which charging cable.

Is there a severe disadvantage to missing MFi certification?

After reading through the comments here, and seeing what is a relatively great price for 5 Lightning cables, I, too, was skeptical. However, after clicking on the Amazon page and looking at the reviews, these cables have 1,608 reviews and 4.3 out of 5 stars overall. It's hard to not be impressed by that. I realize that there may be different cable sizes, but, I would have to think that the 4.3 out of 5 🌟 rating is all for Lightning Cables made by the same company, and it's hard to not be impressed by that. Or, am I wrong for being impressed by that?

Correct. Amazon Choice is for Amazon's benefit in their Alexa ordering software. It's based on sales and reviews, both of which are easily manipulated.

Come on man, you know the drill, D grade on reviews for the company, C grade on fake reviews for the product.
