I've had this for about 5 years and here are my comments:

POSITIVE:
- Overall it's a decent tripod
- Very lightweight and easy to carry
- Pistol grip head is nice to hold and control

NEGATIVE:
- Because it is lightweight, the legs when fully extended are quite flimsy and makes the tripod less stable.
- The head can't be replaced so you can't swap out for a better head.
- Although it advertises as a hybrid for Camcorder/Camera, the panning is not smooth/fluid (obviously for the price).
- In Camcorder mode, the locking mechanism prevents minor adjustments (tilt side to side) to ensure that your camcorder is leveled. You will need to level it by adjusting the legs. This is my biggest frustration and prevents me from using it for video.
- In addition to the above, in camcorder mode, you can't lock it in such as way to allow the camcorder to simply pan side to side. It tilts forward and back and pans side to side at the same time so you have to keep holding on to the grip.
- The thumb knob to lock the head in place is not strong at times when you have a larger lens.

Obviously at $40 is a great deal.

I've been using this thing for years, and I highly recommend it. A great product. Bought it on a similar Fry's deal many years ago

I've used the tripod with a Nikon D7000 which, according to Google, weighs
Approx. 780 g (1 lb. 11.5 oz.)
Not sure if that's including the lens...

Canon 80d is 730 g (1.61 lb / 25.75 oz)
The tripod is rated to hold up to 3.3 lbs. So going from these numbers It should work unless you have a heap of accessories on the tripod weighing it down over 3.3lbs.

When you do a Google search for "Canon 80d tripod screw"...the tripod is literally one of the first few search results from Bestbuy.com Rolleyes Facepalm

I agree with you, mostly.

Do not get this for filming or using as a camcorder support. IMO this is best for still-shots only. There are wayy better tripods with far more adequate panning mechanisms out there, hence why this one doesn't have any extended panning levers or handles.

I have one of these and used it for years. Great price on a good lightweight travel tripod. I ultimately replaced it because it's hard to get it set right with a dSLR (I was using a Sony A300 at the time) and a heavy lens like a 70-300. I never felt like it was going to collapse or anything, it was just a matter of guessing how much it would "sag" once you locked the tripod and took a fair amount of trial and error.

Highly recommended for lighter lenses or non-dSLRs.
