I picked one up a while back and it works fine. Though I bought it mostly bc the Chromecast in the bedroom had trouble keeping a connection with the router that was on the other side of house.

MIR = Mail In Rebate

$24.99 with PROMO CODE EMCPTEY37

Minus -$20 MIR = $4.99

ASUS RP-N54 Dual-Band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz) Wireless N600 Repeater w/ RJ45 & Audio Ports EMCPTEY37 $24.99 minus -$20 MIR = $4.99

When I add the promo code the cost is $24.99. To get it at $4.99 I have to use a $20 mail in rebate card.

Correct. That's why it's "$5 AR" (AR standing for "after rebate").

Thanks OP, but passing on it because of the poor reviews ($20 MIR for something so poorly reviewed just isn't worth the risk for me).

Can I use this as a basic WPA point? I have a FiOS Actiontec router that only supports 2.4 Ghz and I'm looking for inexpensive upgrade.

The main problem is reliability. I have switched to a better brand and have it plugged in an UPS for my home automation hubs in the mid level of my home. Since then, I don't have disconnection issue. N600 does not stream medium to high bit rate video anyway.

What would you recommend for a decent budget repeater/extender? Currently on stand alone ASUS AC1900 router from tmobile
