The only brand I only consider Commercial Grade for washers and dryers were Speed Queen.

Past tense since they trashed them for 2018!!!

Our washer crapped out. Have to buy new ASAP. May go front loader for the first time. Old Whirlpool only last like 35 years.

Hi what you mean trashed them? Don't sell or the new models stink?

The 2018 model Speed Queens are redesigned and don't seem to clean as well. No more Speed Queen front loaders, only top loaders for 2018. Machines are now belt drive as opposed to direct drive in prior years.

The Maytag commercial washer for home looks like a real beast but uses tons of water per load.

I would really like to buy the Maytag or Speed Queen top loader but the Speed Queen TR5 is $1,000+ out the door.

I bought my Whirlpool washer in 1988.. Still works.. Changed a set of washer dogs inside the basket ($4) about 15-20 years ago, and the thing wont spin as fast as it did new, but it still works and I am wondering what would I replace it with.. I wont be around in 30 years, but it would be nice to know it will out last me..

Our old Whirlpool top loader just died. Technician was here the other day. Told me that based on serial number of the machine, it might be from 1972. No way that's right but I know it was at least 23 years old, probably older. Now, I guess I'll replace it with some POS top loader machine with an agitator that won't clean the clothes nearly as well as the old machine.

I was considering Speed Queen TR5 for $1,000 but that's a lot of freaking money for pretty much a basic washing machine. Also, I asked dealer what he would do if I buy the machine and don't like it. He told me 30% restocking fee. No freaking way!!

Don't replace it. Just repair it as necessary. The parts are relatively cheap (no expensive one-off control board) and parts availability is good.
