Just wondering, why is this better than wire?

Well not counting the cost ($20 dollars less per shelving unit), it really all comes down to what you need it for. If all you're putting is kitchen supplies like pots and pans then the wire ones may be better, and in some cases may look better (depending on your taste).

To me the Muscle Rack can handle a lot more stuff and if you're not planning on moving it any time soon, they're also sturdier for garage implementation, and again, $20 bucks less per unit is great in my book.

Lots of people say the Muscle Rack is harder to put together, but if you build the first piece two pieces (bottom most rack) in an L shape pattern, it's actually pretty easy to do.

So in the long run one isn't necessarily better than the other, just depends on what you need it for and your budget.
