In dirt = more chance for vermin problems and unknowns of the soil quality, what pesticides etc were used in the soil before you lived there etc.

Raised bed = more control of soil when purchasing a decent organic soil which comes rich in nutrients to help your plants start off right. Less chance of vermin

If you get 3 or more its better to get them from Lowes for the same price but you can use 10 off 50 coupon.

These were recently marked down for $19.98 from $31.97 which is 30% a regular price.
You can even buy a similar product in Lowe's with addition coupons for a better price.
If you can wait for few more days they will come down for $7.99 which is 70% clearance price.

I see...its Terra Cotta colored plastic. Couldn't understand how wheels would attach to actual Terra Cotta.

I didnt look at this years model but last year it came with a rubber band. The one from Lowes was the same. This year Lowes replaced it with a much better cover with a tie string. If this one still has the rubber band you should get the one from Lowes, it is the same price.

Are these better than growing in dirt? Or are they mostly for people who don't have yards?

They dont need to be watered as frequently as there is a reservour at the bottom that can store some water.
