Havent looked it up, but probably samsung die, because someone mentioned when the timings are all the same it's less likely to be hynix.

I wish that 20% off would work for 32gb too. Frown Not sure if 16 is enough for me or not. Too bad 24gb kits aren't made by good brands.

Here are some more deals via 20% off codes.

corsair 16gb 3200 [newegg.com] 16 CAS for $168, but I assume hynix.

G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB 3200 [newegg.com] 15CAS for $338

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB 3333 [newegg.com] 16 CAS for $345

edit: took out "good" before deals because memory is pathetically high so it's not really a GOOD deal to pay double what they should cost. Good in today's climate, though, as all of the g.skill mentioned in here have good CAS for their speed and likely all of these g.skill are samsung.

edit 2: by checking the list that tells die type for g.skill ones on reddit, looks like all tridentz mentioned in here is samsung b die and the ripjaws is samsung d die.

It's alarming how many people have these DOA from basically all brands, though. I have never built a pc and now I'm getting nervous that I'll have some parts not work and not know how to figure out what's wrong.

I am also building my pc first time and I wanted 32 go. However, I just purchased the one posted here with 16gb and it seems Samsung bdie. My strategy is using 16gb for now and later upgrade to 32 when the market goes back to normal.

corsair 32gb (4x8) 3200 [newegg.com] 16 CAS for $306, but since it has slower timings and I am guessing hynix, probably still not worth it to save just $30 over the g.skill.

Anyone know a way to figure out if F4-2800C15Q-32GVRB uses samsung or hynix? It's only $287.

Oh well. I got the 32gb... (same model as this except different color). Unlike most, I have to pay newegg tax, but nobody else sells memory at as low of prices as newegg, when they start tossing out promo codes. So including the coupon, tax saved on the coupon amount, and money saved on the newegg gift cards from raise.com that I sued on this, I saved $114 off the normal price.

Would have saved another $50 if I had bought that 2800 one I just listed.

Now I guess I have a month to be looking for better offers from newegg and can return this and get it cheaper, since I won't be opening any parts for a bit longer.

edit: weird they still have the promo code up. they better not putt his on sale and still have the code working. would be a mess trying to cancel my order with 2 $100 gift cards involved.

I'm pretty disappointed that this qualifies as a sale. I guess I'll keep sitting on the 8GB of DDR4 I bought a year and a half ago.

yeah, it's sad. but I doubt people thinking it will drop a lot will be happy because I was looking at trends and it's been "almost" this high for over an entire year. While some artificial factors may have led to some of it, some things do go up in price on their own, too, and I'd doubt if it comes down a huge amount. Maybe they will come down by 20% from this sale price at some point, but I doubt it will go below that.

If it does, hopefully it's in the next 30 days and I notice it in time.
