FYI, Hitachi Power Tools (HPT) will soon no longer be Hitachi.

A global investment firm bought them from Hitachi Ltd and will be remaking them as Metabo HPT. Not to be confused with Metabo itself.

I have one from Porter Cable which is somewhat hard to square up, is it worth it to upgrade?

If it's in your way when you work and causing problems I would definitely upgrade. This is a good saw.

C7BMR goes on sale for $45 shipped occasionally in reconditioned grade A condition from big sky. It has a brake. This is a good deal, but it might be nice to wait for the C7BMR if you can.

How is "Grade A Reconditioned" different from "Refurbished" and is there a "Grade B Reconditioned?"

Very interesting. Gracias for the heads up, I certainly hadn't heard anything like that until now...

Interesting how similar the two names will be after the remake.

As someone who's always had great luck out of both Hitachi and Metabo tools alike, the new name will leave me scratching my head a little....

Looks like they both were bought by KRR the equity firm. They are going to pump and dump the brand like they have with many others. Hitachi tools will be garbage come 2020.
