I have this laptop and its not that hard to just type it in on youtube and see a review instead of making dumb claims over and over.

1. It is 4lbs. I have a scale that says so.

2. I have it connected to a 4k60hz monitor and am typing on it right now. I am using a 4k60hz usb-c to hdmi adapter from Amazon. It is connected to the thunderbolt 3 port on the left. The port is only two-lanes if anyone cares. And yes the GTX 1050ti CAN be used in conjunction with the thunderbolt port. I have no idea why anyone would think otherwise. I play games on my monitor with no issue.

3. There is only ONE usb 3.0 port on the right, not two. The other one right next to it is a usb-c port that is usb 3.1 gen1 only and can't do anything besides transfer data. That's why it's right next to the usb 3.0 port, because it shares the same connection. Basically identical port but with a different physical connection. It is NOT connected to the graphics card and cannot be used for display out or anything else besides data.

4. The laptop is not loud. It is a max-q laptop with limited noise ceiling it can't get louder even if it wanted to.

5. I've seen worse light bleed on many other gaming laptops, especially Gigabyte. It's there but only really noticeable when you set the brightness high and watch something dark.

6. There are TWO slots for memory and they are both upgradeable. Not soldered on at all. The 8GB configuration has two 4GB slots for dual channel memory.

7. Gaming laptops that only get 3 hours of battery life do not have Nvidia Optimus, which switches between onboard and dedicated graphics to save power. This laptop DOES have Optimus. The battery life is 7-10 hours depending on the load. If you are just typing a word document its gonna be 10 hours.

8. It uses a Samsung PM961 nVME drive which is fast. There is also an additional open m.2 slot. There are no slots for 2.5" hard drives so it can't accept any hard drives even if it wanted to.

It is actually $849.

https://m.costco.com/Lenovo-LEGION-Y520-Gaming-Laptop---Intel-Core-i7---4GB-NVIDIA-Graphics---1080p.product.100347159.html

And well it comes with more ram which is definitely a plus. And the 7700q gives you 2.8/3.8 clocks vs the 2.5/3.5 pf the 7300.You also get Hyper Threading which if you are gonna be doing heavy productivity tasks will show considerable improvement over the i5.

However the Ideapad series tends to be built to higher standard IME.Metal construction and sturdier components. Also depending how much it matters to you the IdeaPad has usb-c which also supports Thunderbolt 3,and supposedly the legions HDMI is only 1.4,not sure about the 720s.

Now you have to consider how much gaming performance and battery life mean to you.The 720s has the Max Q.That is a power optimized GPU for laptops.Runs a bit slower but supposedly is quite a bit more efficient in power usage.(There may be ways to overclock/volt them to get back to baseline in exchange for power usage)The 720s also has MUCH larger battery 45 wh vs 79 wh.

So is 150 dollars more worth 8 gb of RAM 300mhz,hyper threading and a 2 TB 5400 RPM.45 watt hour battery

Against

An arguably sleeker look and better
construction,thunderbolt 3/usb c,fingerprint reader,Rapid Charge battery(super useful IMO),79 watt hour battery,

As for the max q GPU..I see it in the title but not mentioned in the specs on either site,so not certain it should be considered.

IMO this is a pretty slick deal.

The 720s is around 4.2 - 4.5lbs, that must be a mistake. Why is this one so much cheaper than the one on the Lenovo site ?

I think that's the weight of the whole box, power brick and all. Looks like a great deal if the 1050 Ti is enough for you.
