Choose What You Pay
Available on Thursday, April 26th at 12am EST

In celebration of our inaugural shoe collection, we want to give you the opportunity to choose what you pay. From 12am to 11:59pm EST you will have the chance to get a pair of Thursdays for any price between the average manufacturing + shipping price ($80) to the traditional retail 5x markup ($480). We think we have made some of the best dress shoes available at any price point and that our community is willing to pay fair value. It's going to be exciting to see what happens!

On Friday, April 27th at 12am EST, prices will default to our Thursday suggested price.

They are confusing margin with markup. The math is completely wrong on their website if you are actually calculating markup. Maybe a small thing to some, but it was very confusing for me to figure out the math they were using until I arrived at this conclusion. Or maybe I'm just confused because it's normally given as a percentage. Either way, interesting way to have a sale I guess.

I don't see a single boot on their site anywhere close to $480.

Appreciate it if you could point me to a pair of leather dress shoes with a full Goodyear welt construction and hybrid leather soles for $45.

The promotion may be a bit gimmiky but these guys make decent stuff at a good price. Check the independent reviews. Not quite at Alden or Allen Edmonds quality but close for fraction of the price.

I'm looking to pick up a couple of pairs for less than a pair of Allen Edmonds on FP sale.

So you're saying you'd rather have two pairs of "not quite" over one pair of decent shoes. I remember when I used to think like that.

These random dress shoe companies are a dime a dozen these days. This company won't exist in 18 months or less.

Yeah...no. Did you bother to do any research before posting that? These are goodyear welt, leather welted boots that use horween chromexel leather. That alone puts them in the $200+ category and is a huge value @ $80 bucks.

Ive heard they have QA issues sometimes, but for $80 bucks for goodyear welted horween leather boots ill take the gamble.

They may not be around, but that doesn't negate the product and coming from someone who looked at horween chromexcel leather and thought it looked cheap, forgive me if I ignore your opinion Smilie

You do you buddy. If you looked at the photos of that Strand looking shoe at the bottom of the linked page and didn't think it looked like a cheap knock off, you need a deal on glasses, not shoes.

Chromexel leather would explain why the dark brown shoes look way too oily and have that cheap looking sheen on them. Just ignore your buyer's regret when they look scratched up and creased to heck after the first two days of wearing them.

Least these guys could do is take a photo where the shoes actually fit the model. They probably farm all their marketing work out to China or wherever these things are made though so the quality of their product is probably accurately reflected in that regard.

Have fun with your "Kickstarter Specials". You can sell a millennial literally anything with enough marketing...

I have a few pairs of decent dress shoes I including Allen Edmonds as well as Ferragamo and Bruno Magli loafers.

I also have a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers and I am looking this year to get a custom built boots from Nicks.

That all said, $80 for these with all the faults you mention is still a darned good deal when compared to other sub $100 dress shoes. Just in time for college grads who are starting to put together their professional wardrobe on a limited bubget. A pair of wingtips and cap toes for under $200 ain't bad at all.

I'm going to add couple to my wardrobe as I have said. I remember when I used to think buying well made premium proucts were the only approach. Sure they're better, but most times a Chevy gets the job done and lasts as long as a Cadillac. I buy a careful mix of premium and basic products.

lol, I'll be sure to inform all the boot and leather enthusiasts from places like /r/goodyearwelt that ChromeDream from slickdeals said the widely coveted leather from horween looks cheap and oily. Thanks for setting the entire world straight!
