If you're used to Gimp, use gimp. If you've cut your teeth with Photoshop, switching to Gimp can be a major pita due to the different menu.... not to mention all the quirks of each.

Thanks I was just wondering if there were really any benefits other than being photoshop. Appreciate the response.

I installed it on my Mac and it was painfully slow. Is it best used on a Linux or Windows computer?

Gimp, or Elements? Macs use x86 now, so unless you are running a very old Mac (with a PowerPC processor), they should run roughly the same.

Gimp is actually much better than Photoshop on CPU/RAM, so if you have an older system, Gimp may be the way to go.

If you're not experienced with either, I would go Gimp. If you're going to learn something, might as well use the free version. Smilie

Photoshop and GIMP have their own pros and cons. If you don't know which you need, you'll be fine with GIMP. If you need PS (beyond wanting the PS layout and menus), you probably won't be looking at Elements.

Does anyone know if Elements will allow you to support the latest Camera Raw?
