Great deal if you are looking for this highly rated camera that is out of stock at some places. Funny thing is... I just bought it yesterday and then I noticed the added $100 gift card offer today so... I'm asking for them to add the gift card to my order... but you won't have to ask because it's now included.
Good deal?

I totally get the Rx100 series cause it's pocket size, but I don't get paying $1700 for a Superzoom.

Hardly for the zoom. Just bought the mkIII. I hated carrying 3 lenses, and sometimes my camcorder. 1 box, 2 batteries 1 plug. 95% of my canon combo.

Too expensive for a superzoom. They are going to have a hard time selling this at this price. A lot of alternative superzoom at cheaper prices, e.g. the Panasonic fz1000 has similar sensor size and 4k capability goes for around $600

Man, this one is more expensive than a full frame camera

I did my research on 'superzooms' and there is nothing like this one.... with the speed, focusing, image and video quality, and great zoom lens. Pretty much everyone who has used this says it is worth the money.

This is "cheap" when you consider all the gear it can replace (body and lenses) and still give you great DSLR-like shots.

I might start taking a lot of photos again... since I just got tired of hassling with my DSLRs and all the lenses... and the focusing on this should be better than any DSLR camera I've had before.

This is an amazing camera. You could not buy a 24-600 mm max app f4 lens for 1700. This is a great all in one. Just not good at nite.

Yeah, I guess it would make a nice camera to take to Teton NP and Yellowstone. You could get landscapes and 600mm wildlife shots with the same lens. And video. If you got the bucks it'd be a nice toy.

But I don't find my Rx100 IV shots compare well to my Nikon D7000 w/ prime lenses.

I'd buy an a6300, a6500, A7iii over this every day of the week.

But the lens you would buy would likely be higher quality glass than this lens. And you could switch it out for a lens that was faster, better at low light, and a shallower depth of field. This is a cheaper lens for sure but it is the ONLY lens on this camera. That's a huge limitation for that level of savings.

By all accounts and reviews, the Zeiss zoom on the RX10 III and iv are very good. The AF/tracking on the iv is what you pay a premium for. If you aren't going to track BIF, then get the Panasonic or MK III.

and you'd be getting far less camera. Just a quick look:

Panasonic is only 400mm, Sony is 600 (that's 16x vs 25x)

Sony does 120fps at 1080. It also does 240fps at 1080 and can do 480 and 960 at lower resolutions.

Panasonic does 12fps photos and Sony does 24fps

Auto focus on the Sony is leaps and bounds above the Panasonic.

So the Panasonic is not even close to the Sony.

The a6500 is close but you are at $1100 and need a lens to match the RX10 iv. You are at $1650 with a lens but still need another to match the zoom of the RX10 iv. You are then carrying 2 lensed as well. The a6500 is a very nice camera.

This deal looks like it's still alive. I've had mine for a few days now and am loving it... getting a lot of great shots that I couldn't get with cheaper cameras and less likely to get with my more expensive DSLRs (due to the versatile lens and better focusing ability on this Sony, and that it's a lot easier to take this camera along compared to a bigger DSLR and all the lenses).
