The coupon sure did. Ordered the 270pc mechanic set (not the 276) and the 300pc drill set for 149.23. Paid with raise gc and saved another $13 or so. So got both shipped for around $136 plus got 51.xx in points also.

Spend a few more bucks and get a set that has 1/2 drive deeps

The bits and the hex keys kinda kill the deal for me... no need for those fillers.

The 1/2 stuff is 11 point in this set, the sets with 1/2 deeps the deeps are 6 point I believe. 11 points on high torque big bolts are tears waiting to happen.

I guess if you need the custom case that holds everything neatly. I prefer to buy each set of wrenches, sockets, etc separately whenever the price is right.

Seriously? For less than 50 cents a piece. You guys are complaining? That's the price of two lollipops. This is a great deal!

Yeah, real mechanics just use their teeth to remove the fasteners on all of those shields, clamps, clips, panels, supports, and covers that are often found on modern equipment.

Comparing the parts list of the 276 for 140$, to the 270 for 130$: if you already have a torx bit socket set, the 276 offers better selection of sockets that could prove useful.

The 450 with it's 187 bits(filler) doesn't look anywhere near as good.

What you call fillers are tools that are often necessary to complete a repair. By including them as bits instead of complete drivers, it allows Craftsman to use a more compact case and helps to keep the cost down. If you were to end up with a set without these bits, then you'll likely have to supplement it with another box of tools - which kind of goes against the reasoning for a buying a general use mechanic's kit that comes in a compact portable box like this.

If you have a large tool box to fill, then by all means skip the portable general use kits. Instead, buy yourself socket sets, wrench sets, driver sets, etc..
