Pretty cheap quality. First set blew up right before the 30 day mark. Sound is ok. Upgraded to the powered Monoprice Monitors and what a difference in sound and build.

I have these in my computer room from the last time they went on the front page. Great speakers. My only complaint is because adorama took forever to ship

Picked these up from Amazon at $99, worth it at that price, a steal for this one! I use them for my gaming station and I'm impressed with the sound from such small drivers.

I have never heard the Mackies, but I also recommend folks at least consider comparing to Monoprice. I've owned Polk, old Teac, Advent, and other small to medium bookshelf/tabletop speakers and the Monoprice was really solid.

Note that I do think any bookshelf would benefit from a sub to round it out, and unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Monoprice in that area. Sub input terminals were cheap, broke on initial installation. What a hassle.

Yes, for low stakes recordings and demos these will be better than a home stereo for monitoring. I paid 100 used a few years ago and have been pretty satisfied for recording away from the studio, or just listening to records.

I had never heard of them either other than SD. I own them. They are much bigger than I expected. Connecting them is a little odd. However there is no power brick; just regular wall plug.

Ive owned a pair for a year now and had no real issues except the toggle to reverse Left and Right channels was way too sensitive/ having issues. Their support was amazing and sent a replacement right away. i use them for computer speakers and find they beat any Logitech at a similar price point

Mackie has been around for a long time. They are based in Washington state and are very well known for professional audio gears geared towards musicians and recording studios. I've had their more higher end studio monitors before and they are considered one of the bests. ( I have no experience with these particular model however)

I had a pair and the left speaker stopped working. Was due to the switch on back acting up . These speakers get very hot and overheat. They did send replacements but I don't expect them to last longer than a year either. They do sound decent for the price but they just overheat too much
