Bissell Big Green Professional Carpet Cleaner Machine from Amazon. A good price since it normally sells for $400. Pays for itself quickly after 2-3 cleanings. I've had one for 3 years and it's still going strong.

Decent deal, but it drops to $285 about every six months and the last time was 5 months ago. So if you don't have immediate need I would wait.

I bought it for $285 (before tax), and it has been outstanding. Probably saved us a lot of money just in the two years we have had it.

Not a bad price. Another option is to rent one at Lowe's for $30 for 24 hours. Bissell often has coupons on their site for another $5-10 off.

If you have pets, go for a Hoover. I've had numerous Bissell products and they don't seem to last long. That included buying one of their carpet machines that lasted less than a month. After that, I picked up a Hoover and use it at least twice a week, and it is still going strong.

id agree with this for maybe the cheaper versions of Bissell but this thing is a monster and does work to carpets.

I have 3 pets and LOTS of hair. This thing keeps pulling out more junk even though i vacuum heavily before use.

Possibly, but I think it's just their quality control. I've had three service calls to Bissell in the past 6 months for a Crosswave and two vacuum cleaners. I also had to return a BarkBath (Dog shampoeer) to Amazon because it wouldn't release shampoo. The carpet cleaner I bought lasted about 2 weeks, then I switched to an entry level Hoover and it has probably been ran a couple hundred times and still cleans like new. I guess it could be really bad luck though. Smilie

I have one of these machines and it is incredible. I bought it for a lesser price years ago, but I can still recommend this for $350. Like someone said prior, rent one to test it out. After trying it on a high traffic area of carpet, you will want to own it.

Yep bad luck.

I have 3 bissell products including this one and they all work exactly as expected.

I lucked out and bought this machine used for like 120

I have a deal alert for this because I passed on it in November and immediately regretted it. I'm hoping it returns to this price in the next week!

Any chance this drops to the typical $285 sale price?

Wow. My carpet is long past due for a cleaning if 2 times a week is normal. I don't know if I could find a few hours every week in my schedule to spend time shampooing the carpet. I think I've only used it once every few months at best.
I agree though, love my Hoover cleaner I got from SD for under $100.

I was cleaning a lot because my dogs were puppies and even after they were housebroken, they were having marking wars for awhile.

I will never ever rent a carpet cleaner again. They make you clean that thing beyond what they gave it to you or you don't get your deposit back. I had the thing as clean as I thought it could go, but they kept going oh no here is a tiny spec here and a little bit there. I spend another hour cleaning. Stupid.

Buy one, don't look back.

I'm hoping! It's 319 now and I almost want to bite except I know 285 usually pops up every 6 months and it should drop any day now!
