Waiting for this one to go back down to $900. Might be a better deal in the future but best price right now that I can find.

https://www.amazon.com/Epson-Cine...B01LWAQHAO

Canceled my order with Amazon and went with B&H. No tax and same price.

There was recently a 4K projector, approximately less than a week ago, that was a little over a thousand bucks. Unfortunately I missed out on that one.

Yeah, why get 1080p for like 100 less?

pretty sure that 4K they are talking about wasn't a true 4K but an upconversion. Still nice to have, but if you want real 4K you're probably looking at the very least $1500.

Check out the same deal at abt.com. $899, free ship, no tax, sign up for their emails and get another $25 off, and there may *wink* be another 2% available to find... I just bought one for $874, plus another 2%... $856.52 all told. Not bad!

How does this compare to the 2150 that was just on sale? I was going to order the 2150 in the next couple days at $700, but looks like they just ended the sale and now it's back up to $900. I'm sure it will come down again though, epson seems to be lowering the price on all of it's older models one by one every few weeks.

This has lens shift which adds quite a bit to cost. There is a motor that physically moves the lens up/down/left/right to give a more versatile installation without losing image quality.

Also, it's generally a really nice projector, and I'm pretty sure the replacement bulb is really low cost.

Actually, replacement bulbs for this projector look to be very expensive.

"Epson rates the lamp at 3500 hours in High mode, 4000 in Medium, and 5000 hours in Eco. Replacements are $299." via projectorcentral.com

Whereas the same website says the 2150 projector replacements are only around $50. Another reason why I was strongly considering the 2150.

Out of stock through Epson, but looks like you can find elsewhere for around $120 - $150 so not terrible. Wondering if I should bite on this, or wait another couple weeks to see what the next projector is that epson puts on sale.

That was the deal but like I said I missed out on it, including the rest of us, for anyone who was interested.

I wound up buying two of these off of eBay as open box items for around $88 each + shipping. one had a bad remote or bad receiving sensor, the projector worked fine though. I sold that one for a hundred bucks to a buddy of mine. the other one is in my bedroom hitting the wall at 115 inches.

Of course they're on the opposite ends of the spectrum and one cannot be compared to the other. Though it does do the trick, and is acceptable for what I paid for it. Also using this paint on the wall really does do the trick!

Real 4k starts at $5,000, but even then, those projector's are limited in what they can do. If you have $4,500 I would get the optoma uhz65

Pixel shifters normally run $1500 and up and produce an image almost indescribable from true 4k

There are many factors one should consider when buying, not just if it's capable of 4k

My advice would be to wait because the dlp 4k chips are 1st Gen and need some improvements

I got the hk2288 by vivitek and the picture is amazing, but it isn't without it's flaws. Gaming is horrible, input lag is too high, there is no 3D, but other than that, it's a beast.

Geo you seem to know what you're talking about.

Is this 3100 at $900 a good deal? I got caught sleeping on the 2150 for $700 that price was just raised back up on. Or should I wait for something better?

Seems like all of these 1080p projectors are kind of old models and will no doubt be dropping in price, probably as soon as I buy one lol.
