LG OLED 4K 65G7P (open box) at Best Buy - $1680 or less YMMV

Figured this was a pretty nice deal on one of the higher end LG 4K OLEDs from their Signature series... I was at Best Buy yesterday and the manager told me that they just took down their previous year's display within the past couple days to put up the new 2018 models. So yes, this is a floor model but at substantial savings (and if you're really concerned, you can always buy protection). He even knocked another $80 off for me, plus I used a bunch of reward certificates (which is why the price looks weird on the receipt).

From what he told me, this should be available at other Best Buy locations (though each store probably only has one) since pricing came down from corporate. Mine was marked as missing some things though it was actually complete with cables and remotes.

I would be concerned about burn ins from buying store display models. Protection plans usually don't cover that either

Protection plans have no idea whether it happened at home or not. And neither does LG

Few days ago I got 65C7P model from BestBuy for ~1350$ including tax. I was happy before I checked burn ins home with solid color screens. Yes, they even sell burn ins protection for ~170$ for 2 years but anyway, I will return unit. You cannot see burn ins on images/video. If it is fine with you - yes, it is good deal.

How did you score 65C7P model from BestBuy for ~1350$ including tax ? Was it an open box?

BestBuy near me had 65c7p for $1299 but after checking further it also had burn in so they wouldn't sell to me. They sent back to be refurbed.

The pictures on OLED is great but I don't think I could own one because I'd always be paranoid of burn in...my wife and kids wouldn't understand and leave it on some stationary pic all day.

LG doesn't cover burn in no matter where it happens.

Also this is hundreds of dollars more than the B/C models, brand new, have been available for with CCPP for months now- and they all have the same display panel in them.

Yes, it was display TV which was on stand for 10 months showing demo content. The same as this thread explains. So, you can get good price but unit will have burn ins.

Protection plan from Best Buy specifically covers burn in. I had no problem paying $350 for a 5 year plan to cover that. Total price is still way better than any other deal.

No need to be obnoxious. If you don't want to buy a floor model TV, then don't.

This price is great for a highly rated TV and I'm sure plenty of people would gladly pick this item up at that price if they could find it in their local Best Buy. I'm choosing to buy this TV with 5 year protection from Best Buy to cover the risk of burn-in. At $1950 total it's a great deal.

Since the manager told me that corporate has him marking this TV down to this price (and since all the Best Buys are switching to 2018 displays), it seems like other Best Buys would likely have them in stock.

I'm just trying to give a heads up to people who'd be interested. The whole point of YMMV is to alert others to a possible deal that they might be able to get it on. It's a legit deal, receipt included, and has a chance to be replicated. It's people who thumb down simply since they can't get a YMMV deal that ultimately ruins it for everyone else.

I mean... it's $450 more net cost (and only that little a difference by ignoring the tax on the $1950 at BB whereas the GT deal is no tax in most states) than the exact same panel and processor in a B or C 7A that's been available for months via CCPP plus the Costco warranty- which nets you 6 years coverage buying with a Citi card...

So unless you were planning to abuse the hell out of a brand new one with 600+ hours straight of CNN, which is the only time burn in protection would matter, it's really not a great deal compared to that.... since it means you paid $450 more for a used TV with coverage you otherwise wouldn't need at all, plus a mediocre soundbar permanently attached to the set.

(and if you really wanna get into YMMV stuff- the B7A deal has been available as cheap as $650 less than you paid (with the extra Costco warranty) a couple different ways for folks in some markets- either the NFM deal without even needing CCPP, or the Microcenter one with it)

You posted a deal that can't even be replicated. You randomly found an open box TV at a random best buy. Sweet.

After your extensive research at all Best Buy stores, you've come to this conclusion. Sweet!

Best Buy manager said he marked this down due to corporate pricing directive. Plenty of other Best Buy stores were taking down their 2017 displays and putting up the new OLEDs that same weekend. The receipt was provided.

Sorry you couldn't replicate. No need to get salty.
