How much better is this RX 580 compared to the MSI one for 249? I believe the MSI version has a $20 MIR as well bringing it closer to 229 + tax

Low $200s? I don't think so. $150.

What is the "MSI one"? If you're talking about the RX570 that ishere. The 570 and the 580 aren't "different versions". A simple google search will probably give you and answer faster than leaving a comment here.
You also might've wanted to word your question as, "Is the RX 580 worth the $70 price difference from the RX570?"
I'm referring to the MSI RX 580 MK2 which I'm assuming is apples to apples. My question was supposed to be is the XFX a better brand or better version of the RX 580? Excuse my wording, was just wondering if I should cancel my order I already placed with bestbuy for the MSI RX 580 for 249 + tax. Thank you.

The poster is specifically talking about this MSI RX580 at $250 and asking why the XFX is worth the extra $50+: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-...Id=6202779

The XFX card has a potentially beefier cooling solution and higher "official" factory overclock potential. In general XFX is considered a "premium" vendor for AMD cards, they typically use higher quality components (like Samsung VRAM vs other vendors by competition - although obviously YMMV with recent component market rollercoaster).

It looks like prices are indeed dropping. Be patient if you aren't in immediate need of a new card. These should drop even more in the coming weeks.

I don't know about gaming with these cards but when it comes to mining MSI is better even the Armor Mk1 let alone mk2 with improved cooling. That XFX cooler is visually smaller than the MSI Gaming X series thou, only the plastic shourd is big. Metal back plate is a plus if you're into that thing but MSI Gaming X and Sapphire Nitro has the best cooling performance.
By better I'm talking about performance, power consumption, temperature.

The XFX cards was not originally $50 more expensive. It is just due to stock availability and retailer pricing

Just an FYI. I had to RMA one of these XFX cards and it was not an easy process. I did eventually get it replaced.

BB already gave me a tracking number for the RX 580 , (I mean the cheaper MSI one) so I guess they really did come back in stock for a little while. Now will have to figure out how to make it play nice in the same system as a GTX 1060.

OP, I'm confused here: Are you having a third-party store (XFX Official Store) on the Newegg Marketplace price match best buy? Is that via the newegg Price Match Guarantee [newegg.com]? I ask because I'm not seeing a price match guarantee badge or wording, and Newegg Price Matches give out gift cards instead of refunding the difference.

Edit: Basically I've looked at this both ways and I don't know wehere you get your price from.
