I've been eyeing to buy this vacuum for awhile and it seems this is the cheapest it's been on Amazon.

Not that great of a deal considering the v8 absolute right now is at 350. If this was the absolute model then it would be better. The soft roller alone on the absolute models goes for $100 separately

I do not consider very knowledgeable in vacuums.
How are dysons more different than other machines? What makes them so expensive compared to normal Bissell/Shark (I have a Bissell).
My Vacuum is 5 years old and not doing a good job on our hardwoods and carpet. Looking to buy a new one.

i dont think so, v7 absolute includes fluffy brush for hardwood, doesnt look like you can select it as free tool. I beleive it's absolute exclusive.

I bought v7 absolute last week for $329 on dyson.com, and got 4 free tools. 3+1 extra for chatting.

edit. absoulte is also not HEPA

Mostly battery powered convenience, weight, suction power is really good for the battery operated device, and when on sale prices are comparable to shark or slightly more. Dyson also has apple kind of following Smilie

Downside is short battery life, 20 min with powered tool, 30 minute with non powered tool, 6 minutes on high power.

If you are buying this to replace whole house vacuum, depends on the house size but i would not suggest it. I use it for first floor hardwood and stairs, i still have upright hoover upstairs for carpets.

Dyson takes the drudgery out of vacuuming. It's a rare feat for an appliance. The build quality, warranty, and reliability in my experience are the best I've seen. They're not "throw it down the stairs" durable like some Orecks, but that's not their angle.
