If you're building simple and typical yes. But if you're building ITX with cramped cases and specialized custom cases, then you need shorter cables. They sell shortened psu cables for a reason. You're right that a psu can get shorted if the wrong cables are used. but cables CAN be swapped properly for less clutter in a case.

Wouldn't modular be enough most of the times? There's a good amount of space to the left of the front fan bracket where you can tuck cables away unless you have a super long graphics card.

I have a liquid cooled processor, a large graphics card, and a modular PSU. I need every cm3 available but small PSU cables seem to be very expensive Frown

I went for the Corsair H60 in a push-pull (dual fan) configuration. It's keeping things nice and cold but with the small case it still runs a bit warmer than expected (still within very safe levels below 70C)

Currently sitting on this case, an EVGA Z270 Stinger, 7700k & MSI 1080 ti Seahawk (or a 1070 ti) I'm planning on dropping in this bad boy. Like someone else asked, I'm trying to find a super short cable set for an EVGA PSU, as well as (ideally) a solid AIO cooler for the CPU, or a supreme low profile heatsink, which would allow me to include the Seahawk GPU. Either way, I'm just twiddling my thumbs, trying to find the rest of the components without blowing another $200-300... Suggestions? TIA

It would be time consuming but is shortening the wires yourself out of the equation? Is it worth the extra cost to you to cut solder and heatshrink?

Picked one of these up last time for my kids gaming build. The only con/warning is: expect to frequently clean dust from the front fan/intake.
