Use Code: "SAVE15"

Product Attributes:

Screen: 13.3" IPS
Resolution : 1920x1080
Operating System : Windows 10 Home
Portable Computer Weight : 2.87lb
Processor Model : Pentium N4200 Quad-Core (2.5GHz Boost)
Product Model : SF113-31-P5CK

----

The fit and finish on this is spectacular. Despite being slightly larger than the XPS 13 9360, this seems noticeably lighter in hand. Perfect for hauling around campus all day.

Picked up a WD Blue in order to get around the limited capacity of the 64GB EMMC storage. Youtube has instructionals for m.2(sata) installation.

Other notes after a couple of weeks using this laptop:

- The little quad-core is snappy (even stands up to photo editing in Lightroom) without the need for a fan, so no noise or quality issues down the road!
- The IPS screen isn't quite as crisp as the 9360, but it has much less glare thanks to its matte coating. Definitely punches above its weight class here.
- Battery life is phenomenal. Sure it has a lot to do with the specs, but bottom line is that it lasts all day.

Acer did a bang up job on this $319 (Walmart) laptop. The recertified version is indistinguishable from new at only 2/3 of the normal price, allowing the end user to transform it from chromebook slayer to surprisingly nice daily driver with the simple addition of a sata m.2 SSD, all the while staying under MSRP Smilie

Comments like this annoy me.

It obviously is NOT better for most people. They don't want to install Linux. They don't want to learn a new OS. They will have apps that simply won't run on Linux. There is a reason why Linux has about 1.5% of the personal computing market share. And it's not because people are unaware other options exist. The simple fact is that for most people Windows is the best product for their needs.

Doesn't mean that Windows is perfect or the Linux is a bad option. But the constant trolling in these forums is super annoying.

4 or 8 GB?
Main product listing at top near price shows 4GB but under Features it says 8GB.
I'm guessing 4, no?

This model is 4GB and you cannot add more, which shouldn't be too much of a surprise given the price tier. There is an i3 variant (might have been UK only) that is around double the price with an 8GB option.

Windows sides 20+ GB storage for OS itself while linix( Ubuntu) would need only 2GB . Yes thats 1/10th. But you will have to install apps you need they come preinstalled like chrome, VLC player, codecs, pinta, screenshot, etc. Most of them 90% are free though.

all this applies if you want to stick with the inbuilt storage.

Lower memory utilization and slightly better performance. May be a good option for the techie who wants to save money, but as bjsguess stated, it would probably be too much work for the average buyer to get into. In my opinion, if you're that concerned with memory utilization, spring for a device with 8gb or more of memory, at which point any performance gain with Linux would be marginal.

Thinking of buying this for my dad for father's day and drop an m.2 in it. Hes running an XPS from 2010, somehow haha. Will this be a drag? Will the 4200 be able to keep up for a few years? I guess at this price 2-3 years would be awesome
