Delta Airlines have round trip airfares travelling to and from Dallas (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX) for $116, nonstop. This is on Delta's basic economy fare which restricts advance seat assignment and refundability. You may, however, still have a carry-on for free. Spirit Airlines have a slightly cheaper fare but it doesn't include a carry-on.

Travel Availability:
Departs DFW: Aug 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 25, 29; Sept 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22
Departs LAX: Aug 21, 22, 28, 29; Sept 1, 5, 8, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22

Use those dates and plug into Priceline [priceline.com], Orbitz [orbitz.com], Delta Airlines [delta.com] or Expedia [expedia.com]. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money.

Best time to visit? Not during the summer cause it's so hot here. I would say Oct-early/mid May is nice, we do get wild winter weather for about 2 weeks though, we can't drive in the ice/sleet/snow/rain so keep that in mind. I actually live on the Fort Worth side.

As far as attractions; I'm not the best person for this but off the top of my head:

Dallas Stars, Mavericks, Texas Rangers depending on the season.

Dallas Aquarium is kind of cool

JFK stuff

Dallas Zoo, but the Fort Worth Zoo is better.

Lots of good food here, BBQ is a must.

Our time old tradition of sitting in traffic is fun.

Those are some of the typical things I suppose. Check trip advisor or something they can probably help you out better. Dallas/Ft Worth is spread out a lot so if you're tying to visit both sides of the metro you'll want a rental car. Our public transport isn't great but with Uber, Lyft it's doable.

Good luck!

Check out some country dancing and live bands at Red River (younger crowd) or Billy Bobs. If you like museums, check out the JFK, Perot, Nasher Sculpture Center or the DMA. If you like gardens, the Dallas Arboretum. If you like shows, the winspear Opera House (mostly Broadway musicals)

Just take the metro, and avoid all that traffic.

As a native, and If you want to avoid brutal summers. I suggest coming in late September. A lot of museums and eateries. East of 9-5 Downtown, is revitalized Deep Ellum . Rent a car. Unless u don't mind waiting long wait times in public transit. I only recommend It if you're staying around the DART and McKinney AVE trains.
