PSA: Google play store preventing apps (android pay/moviepass/etc) on rooted phones.
I got an email telling me to update my Moviepass app on my android as the old app would no longer function. It prevented me from seeing a movie because I didn't upgrade and once I did try to update it told me my device was incompatible with the latest app. The playstore wouldn't come up with the app at all until I googled it. Turns out that the playstore now has protections in place through something called Safetynet that prevents rooted phones from downloading or upgrading certain apps. Mostly android pay, moviepass, and some others. If you have trouble upgrading Moviepass, or using certain apps you may have to go back to a stock firmware. I updated to the newest stock firmware to fix my issue and everything work. Supposedly there is a workaround to root your phone again but I couldn't get mine to work. Anyways, hope this helps.
