Curious but what prevents one from adding a new line to an existing 4 line family plan and then dropping one of the other lines and then switching phone numbers?

You would have a new number and your old number would be gone.

couldn't you circle it around? ie:

Current:
----------
Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4

Get Deal:
----------
Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4
New Line 5

Wait a week

Move Line 1 to some temporary carrier, then switch line 1 phone # to Line 5 and then drop line 1

no?

Move line 1 out to google voice and then use google voice number on top of line 5. I have been using google voice for 7 years now never worried about the actual carrier number

Much better deal at Best Buy, which was $150 instant off, $300 bill credits, nothing else. Hopefully they do that again soon.

This is $50 less off, needs two devices, and a new line.

Looks like this same deal is now popping up on the Verizon site, outside of Costco, as a Mother's Day Sale:

https://www.verizonwireless.com/s...galaxy-s9/

Quote :
Buy 1, get 1 free. No trade-in req'd.
Up to $960 device payment purchase per device required. 2nd phone of equal or lesser value & of same manufacturer: less up to $799.99 promo credit applied to account over 24 mos w/in 1-2 billing cycles; promo credit ends when balance paid or line terminated/transferred; 0% APR. New line of service required.
Unfortunately, Verizon has the highest "MSRP" listing price of all retailers that I've seen.
