Yeah, seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Have been looking for a low priced UPS for my networking gear, especially after loosing power last week for about an hour. Just picked one up myself and thought I would share. Peace

I would assume at least a few hours for items that use so little energy. All of my networking gear wall plugs are rate something like 1 amp @ 5 volts. So say I am powering 3 networking devices that would be 15W per hour. I ll go ahead and round up to 20w for waste. 250w on the UPS. 250/20 = 12.5 hours. Maybe my math is wrong? Confused

Not actually that many. These are inefficient at low draw. You should at least 2 hours out of it [apc.com], but by time this is dead your standby generator has already kicked on or you have started up your manual generator. More does not always mean better with things like this. The cheapo home network backup ones give you the same runtime because they are designed for lower draw.

It is probably still worth having, At least for the main router and wireless access point on the network so you still can internet for a while.

Wife just asked if we could get a second so she can make a pot of coffee even if the power goes out. I am not making this up.

I just looked it up and coffee makers actually use a lot of energy!

I used this one to replace the 2-pronged version I had for my network equipment. My only complaint is the high-pitched hum it makes. I can't be sure if it's a defect or common for this model.

Reading the reviews on Amazon for this unit the humming is common! https://www.amazon.com/APC-Batter...UPS+BN450M
