I want this.... but it would likely just be used as a volume knob 95% of the time :/

And on top of that, creative is notorious for having the shittiest drivers I mean I'm pretty sure they could bring into 2018 any of their current sound cards but instead they opt for releasing marginally better hardware and charge full price for them.

There are better options for that.

The 1980s called, they want their MS-DOS sound card back. I think sound is built in to all computer and cell phones these days.. (and most people don't need anything more than the basics)
Way to establish that you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Ever try to plug XLR cables into the back of your computer? Some people do more with their computers than check email and play solitaire.

May be useful to someone if you are trying to patch in a real mic with Xlr with phantom power. Seems targeted to someone wanting to do simple podcasting, as music people will likely opt for other/better choices out there. Silly sound clip feature confirms target audience.

Heck, I wasn't even aware sound blaster was still around, I thought they went bankrupt in the 90's. Last I heard of them...I have one of their cards laying around here somewhere...

Expensive, but the simplest way to connect XLR into your computer.

Maybe someone can link a cheap chinese knock-off for a cheaper price?

I'd be cautious about going too cheap. Many of the cheap chinese XLR pc interfaces, especially ones capable of providing phantom power, also provide feedback and noise from cheap circuits free of charge. I'd recommend being patient and checking ebay for a used Scarlett Solo, every once in awhile they pop up for around $60.
