This CANNOT do Plex Transcoding, so don't even bother asking. It only has an ARM A15 processor

Previous record low for this was $204 on Black Friday after Masterpass coupon code
Previously low prices have been between $219-$229 after Newegg coupon code

QNAP has a new version of this out called the TS-431P2. Quadcore processor and memory is upgradeable. The original TS-431P comes with 1GB of memory which is enough to file serve and run some apps, but not a lot of apps at once. I have one of these and it's been fantastic as an off-site remote backup server for my 8-Bay NAS. I have enabled volume encryption and the write speeds, despite the encryption, are excellent due to the hardware acceleration.

Bought this right after the coupon code went live. I was kicking myself for missing the $225 deal, so had been watching for this.

Also note that Chase has 5% CB through Paypal this quarter, making it ~$202 minus ~$2 eBay Bucks.

NAS noob question: Plex Transcoding would be important for using as a media server, or JUST for people who use PLEX?

Thank you for your knowledge and wisdom!

Can you plug this directly into a Mac mini and make it appear as one large drive on Mac mini? I'd use the mini for transcoding purposes

FYI. make sure you are running the latest QTS firmware. 431P is an older device it may still have 2017 firmware on it
