Does it work if the weeds are already growing on my lawn? Or is this only a preventative kind of thing? I need to kill and prevent, is this what I need?

My lawn looks like a jungle while my neighbor's look like the world cup's final match.

1) Use Ready-to-spray to kill existing weeds and prevent new ones for 6-months. (I would not apply if temp is over 80) Instead, spot-treat with the concentrate liquid.

2) Ready-to-spray hook to a hose kind does not kill or prevent the notorious Crabgrass. (Aka. The hard to pull weed & more faster to spurt higher than your Grass, before next mow weed.)
— Also Buy and apply Scott's Crabgrass Halts to prevent summer crabgrass weed (it will be to late to put down in a few days, if not already). If to late, you'll need to buy weed-be-gone crabgrass killer when it emerges. Though, if Grass was sprayed using the product on this deal page, you'll just want to spot treat the Crabgrass to prevent injury to current Grass.

Important to always
Mow high for Grass to be stronger by deep growth, to push out the weeds.

Maintaining a green yard requires a persistent schedules before and during each new season, year after year.

Just a quick FYI, there is currently a $5.00 rebate on this item directly from Bayer Advanced. So potentially $2.50 for this bottle. Link below.

https://www.bayeradvanced.com/reb...dControl18

You can file the rebate on their website and just upload the receipt. Also there are other various rebates available. For example Buy 1 – save $3. Buy 2 – save $7. Buy 3 – save $12 on Bayer Advanced including Natria and Durazone. You can find more details below:

Amazon has the concentrated version that you can mix in a sprayer for 7.93.

Bayer Advanced 704140 All-in-One Lawn Weed and Crabgrass Killer Concentrate, 32 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OSH...7Ab5VJBHAM

Here is the concentrated version at home Depot of the same item.

I think these two are different kinds. One in home depot is good for six months and one in Amazon is the regular kind ( not sure how long it is effective) .

This is good as a post weed bloom treatment, whereas stuff like Scott's weed n feed doesn't work after it's already growing

Huh? Scott's weed and feed kills existing weeds as well. The crabgrass preventer is the anti-emergent that stops crabgrass, etc. from growing.

I've had good success with Kmart's Kgro crabgrass preventive working quite well over the years. It's a good preemergent. Currently on sale for $10, 13 lb bag covers 5,000 sqft.

Anyone who's planning to reseed your lawns, don't use any preemergents or your grass seeds won't germinate for the season.

While that is true for northern type grass here is the south is the opposite. Bermuda, Zoysia and to some extent Centipedegrass need to be cut short and more frequent in order to get more dense turf. Once that's accomplished the weeds don't have a chance.

Is this safe for children and dogs 48 hours after application? If not, how long?

What would be recommended as a weed killer if you want to seed?
