That 1366x768 resolution is just horrible, but some consumers don't really mind, and prefer those larger desktop icons and text. (Not realizing you can also change the default size with a 1080 or 4K display?)
Plus some tend to not realize they've maxed out their 4gb of ram when having 90 tabs open within their web browser. So the 12 gb of ram is a nice touch.

How on Earth are they still doing laptops with anything less than 1080p

At least that gen's low power i7's are actually quad cores.

Correction: I looked up the wrong chip. This i7-7500U is the same as a low-power i5 or an 8th gen low-power i3.
