Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones WH1000XM2 $298 (reg. $349) @ Amazon

Sold by Amazon.com - regular price is $349. Some people get refurbs on ebay for cheaper, that seems riskier in my opinion but to each their own.

Looks like it is currently the same deal in many other stores, including Crutchfield, B&H Photo Video, and Adorama.

Anyone experiencing any headband cracking issues with these?

Any clue on how squaretrade would handle that issue since sony refuses to honor it under their warranty?

Sony claims that they fixed it (on Amazon' Custom Questions section)

FYI - Costco has the WH-H900N for $229 every day. Reviews I read said the difference between them and the 1000 was pretty minimal.

They have their positives (many) and negatives (can only connect to one device and must go to pairing mode to connect to another device), but they did save me from 4 hours of crying babies on an airplane yesterday. They're comfortable and sound amazing.

Seems like they're lying and wouldn't honor once its time to claim

Yes there is a warranty. No, it doesn't cover anything past arrival. If your headphone cracks anytime this year you will get the canned response "However, as this comes under physical damage this will not be covered under warranty. We also searched with our resources and there is nothing found as this is not a known issue.", they will certainly not repair/replace the unit under warranty unlike what the manufacturer response says. I got told by the warranty department that I could rebuy a whole new pair instead.

I haven't had the issue with mine. I use them about two days a week though and have only owned them since February. I did get the squaretrade warranty for them though which cost $80 for 3 years with accident protection (had a discount code...)

Beat me to the punch, I just bought these after going back and forth over the Bose 35s. The noose cancelling isnt as good- but for $100 the difference in performance was not worth the difference in price. Plus it's costco.

I own both Bose QC35 (Gen 1) and this Sony. The Sony is indeed more musically enjoyable and the battery seems to last longer, but it is inferior to the Bose in a few regards:

1. Noise cancellation: It still lets background noise in especially the human conversation frequency range.
2. Comfort: It is slightly less comfortable to wear for long term use like a couple of hours or more. Also, it tends to fall off my head when I have to tilt my head backward to apply eye drops to my eyes. My hear is not small either.
3. Controls and connectivity: It's more complicated and sometimes confusing. Especially in the bluetooth connectivity arena. If you want to connect to your PC and your cell phone, you have to configure both of them so one has to connect for music and and the other for voice communication. You can't have them both for music and for voice. On my Bose, that was never a problem.
4. Status update: Bose is indeed more detailed that it tells you to which devices it is connected, the battery level, and etc. The Sony just tells you it it is connected and it is on.

Best deal for these are on mass drop where it goes on sale for $250. I bought mine from there and the sale has happened twice now in 6 months as far as I know. Could be wrong with that. Better than bose qc35 in every way except comfort which I don't mind for the improvements in other areas. I had both and sold the bose for this.
