IPad for reading

1,731 526 May 6, 2018 at 05:57 AM
Hey guys, I'm looking to get my Dad an iPad for nothing more than reading books and the New York Times. He was using an old series 2 I think, and it broke. Space is a non issue, so 16GB is more than sufficient. What is the best deal for a budget price point? Was thinking of an iPad Air 1st Gen, maybe. Refurbished is fine. Thanks.

For an older person, I would look at the Amazon Fire HD tablets not iPads. I am a computer tech and I find the iPads to be frustrating & heavy when all I want to do is read. I am actually using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with keyboard to type this which is overkill for reading. I bought it to watch movies & keep up with Facebook. For ebooks & news, I use my phone, a Note 5.
