309$ for the V8, this is a good deal. The V8 absolute was just on sale for the lowest it has been (350) and that is the same motor/everything except the animal is missing the fuzzy head attachment.

As a side note, Rakuten is not an authorized dealer so you do not get the standard two year warranty when bought through them. If you don't care about that though, pick up this deal as this vacuum is high quality.

What is the attachment that's missing from here and present in the absolute useful for? I'm wondering if I should wait for another absolute deal.

It looks like the fuzzy head attachment is for hard floors (softer bristles to not damage hardwood).

I have the v6 Absolute, and needed a new stick vacuum so I just jumped on this. I have all hardwood floors, and the motorized head works better on them than the "fluffy" one does with my v6. Hopefully thats still the case.

Same here! I didn't pull the trigger though because of the lacking warranty.

We own one of these along with an robotic vacuum, have to say the two complement one another extremely well and while I was skeptical of this thing, it really has proven itself. There's something to be said for just how lightweight and convenient it is, particularly for edges, stairs, and other awkward locations. I don't generally buy Dyson (due to cost Vs. reliability), but this is one product where they remain ahead of the generics by simply micro-optimizing the product to perfection. I liken it to Apple, it is a product where a thousand tiny improvements add up to a major success.

As an aside, I'd skip the V6 (due to the bin/empty redesign on the V7) but both the V7 and V8 are good. At this price you might have well get the V8 (and longer runtime).

Unlikely since rakuten aren't an authorized reseller. They may be selling grey imports. Never hurts to ask though, people have had them match regular US retailers previously.
