Usually Wireless you have to plug in any way so you have to find Outlets and conceal the wires. Also someone that's into audio and video wired is the real deal sound clarity no drop in signal. So it depends what you want from your system mediocre Wireless or something you could be proud of when it's wired.

I just installed 5 speakers in my ceiling and wall a couple of weeks ago. It took around 2 hours to complete and we weren't really rushing and just chatting half the time. I just prefer a minimalistic approach with wires in the house. Definitely go the wireless route for convenience if wires are not a problem to you.

I wonder what makes a speaker "in-wall". Wonder if these would be as good as another other bookshelf if they were mounted directly to the wall rather than in the wall.

With the availability of wireless and WiFi options now I don't see where a product like this is worth installation unless it's replacing existing speakers

Assuming you had the same components in a box they would be nearly identical. The standard would sound marginally better. If your able to do in wall the install is just simply cleaner.

I assume it comes with brackets to hide the mess of a rectangle cut into your drywall.

The hole is smaller than the exteriorndimensions- the speaker overlaps on wall a bit.

Wireless speakers generally use bluetooth which will negatively affect the fidelity of the music you are playing.

I prefer Polk over JBL, I replaced my rear bookshelfs with Klipsch and like them better than the Polks though.
