Just wants to understand why thumbs down. This has 8th i3 processor which is better than 7th gen i5 processor. It also has FHD display.

While 7th gen i5 processor laptops with similar specs are selling for 450+, this sounds like a good deal to me.

Anyone care to explain?

This is a luke warm deal, because there have been some units that have 8th gen i5 or even i7, SSD, and IPS screens for ~$100 more. If you have a hard budget and need to buy now, this is a decent deal, otherwise other units have and will be slicker.

Could you please give me a working link for a i5 8th gen laptop with SSD and FHD IPS display for less than $500?

Normally I wouldn't bother commenting but since you're asking for feedback I'll give my thoughts on this deal.

It's nice and cheap and has a 1080p screen which is uncommon for that price point so I'd give it a thumbs up for that but due to a mediocre processor, not being a 2 in 1, the 5lb weight, not apparently having an anti glare or IPS screen, low battery life especially when you factor in the HDD & ODD, and having the aforementioned mechanical drive instead of an SSD I'd give it a thumbs down. In the end it seems too situationally good to be a "slick" deal.

I fail to understand one thing here. Not sure how people are expecting 2-in-1, touch screen, SSD and all and for this price range.

This processor is good enough for general browsing and streaming activities that lot of people do. Obviously this is not for gaming. Also 15.6" laptops are generally considered as desktop replacements, not for portable purpose.

As a SD'er while checking other laptop threads, lot of poeple mentioned that, rather than buying a i5 7th gen, they prefer a i3 8th gen laptop for cheaper price. So, when I saw the deal, I thought it as a good deal, may not be slick which is generally not expected at this time.

It's a budget machine at a budget price. I mentioned those other features because I'd say it requires something more than budget features to be a good deal. When 7th gen processors were current there was a machine with a 7th gen i3 but otherwise just like this for 350 and that was its regular price. While this processor is better it stands to reason that an otherwise identical machine would be sold at a very similar price.

Please continue to post deals as you see fit. Doing so does have the potential to help others. Just don't be surprised if people don't share your opinion of what constitutes a worthwhile deal.
