I have a prior version of this camera, TS20. Reasonably rugged, can be used for snorkeling, but have to watch out and really pay attention to cleaning the door seal (recharging battery, etc.). Good idea to backup your SD card. Smilie
at $99 - great deal;

oh and you can get an accessory kit for the same money:

Was your iPhone $100 new? There are plenty of people with cheap phones which have bad cameras.

not bad. Hard to find a deal on P&S cameras.

But for me, the only advantage P&S have is the super zoom. This hardly have any zoom. I hardly have any use for the waterproof feature.

Would this be a decent choice for vlogging? Always used my phone. But it's not ideal.

Still decent as an insurance policy. Going on vacation and want something to take underwater but don't want to risk your $1k smartphone, yeah, this fits the bill. Used one in the past, they're fine for splashing around water and sand etc. Probably not much better than your smartphone, but you'll be less concerned if it breaks, you lose it, etc.

This is a great comment. Every nice smartphone is better quality now-adays. But do you really want to risk your Iphone 9/10/X (or whatever is cool now) or Samsung Note 8, S9 S9+ getting wet/sand/etc. in your phone??!!

These types of camera's are amazing for capturing photos and short videos while on vacation or somewhere at the beach. That's about it. Yes the absolute quality is probably better on your phone. (probably not underwater, I've taken some decent stuff with this type of camera (paid $200+ also)) But is is worth the risk?

So for $100 bucks, this is a pretty great deal. If you need a vacation/beach/family/kid camera.

For reference, I have a nikon aw110 that I paid about $240 a few years ago.

I'm guessing your note 8 camera is better, possible much better as this is a 6 year old camera (released 2012).

The only reason to get this is to use is for the underwater or as a cheap camera to trash at the beach.

Your note 8 is waterproof but the IP68 rating means it's only good to 1.5meters in fresh water.

This camera is good to 8 meters in salt/fresh water and would be the better choice for snorkling .

That said we've never had luck with these point and shoot waterproof cameras. They always seem to die untimely deaths involving.... water (just look at all the 1 star reviews to see that this is an issue).
