If it matters, I bought this exact vacuum about 2 weeks ago. We have 3 dogs in the house; 1 who is about 60 pounds and 2 of which who shed profusely. I'm extremely happy with the vacuum, you can actually see where you vacuumed versus where you did not. It picks up pet hair very well.

The reviews include all the models in the line. If you filter the results to just this model it is definitely a mixed bag with plenty of bad reviews. A lot of people thought it performed great and a lot of people had problems with them like the canister not wanting to go in place or loosing suction or the plastic breaking.
To do the filter on desktop click view all reviews and then look for the filter boxes and add filters for verified purchases only and only for the red model and sort by newest. You can try this link [amazon.com] which may or may not work with the way Slickdeals messes up links.

I needed one right here right now so for the price I decided to give it a try. Despite bad reviews there are also good reviews. The big ole switch that switches suction from the brush to the tube swayed me a bit. All the vaccums I have owned the hose has vaccum running through it all the time. I hate doing a whole room and then looking down to see the tube had come loose from where it nestles in and there was not suction and I have to do the room again.
I suspect that this one is cheaper because it may only have a 10 amp motor where the other models clearly have a logo for a 12 amp motor in their pictures.

Ummmmm. I never paid attention to that, but this is the second Eureka I've purchased in the past year. The first one went with my son to his first apartment but was used in the same house with the dogs first. The first one was good, but this one is markedly better (most likely due to it being specifically for pet hair). I also feed my dogs rice and the old vacuum didn't pick it up; this one does. I hope this helps you in some way.

4/5 stars in almost 1000 reviews & comments appear good enough for me at just over $40.

Could you possibly tape or glue the piece that comes loose? Or does that piece need to be removed to clean the unit? I have a dirt devil for carpet and that thing sucks up a decent amount of pet hairs for $20 lol

What brand of vacuum did you have before out of curiosity?

Bought this last time it was on sale. It is strong but the canister would not lock in place so I had to get a replacement from Amazon. Ended up switching out the canisters and it locked in.

Plenty of useful attachments too
