Amazon [amazon.com] has the sale for $23.14. Shipping is free with Amazon Prime. Now $25.37

This is only $0.15 more than a +100 Frontpage deal in April which required a coupon code. I have been watching this item for a day or two and the price keeps dropping!

I bought this drone about a year ago for $30 and it has been worth every penny. I never flew a drone before buying this one and at this price, it is a great starter drone with the added benefit of including a camera... not a great camera, but still fun to be able to take photos and videos. The drone is very resilient as I have crashed it many times, even some hard landings on pavement, and it still keeps flying. It is fairly lightweight, so wind can be an issue, but when it is still, the drone is super stable. I fly it in the house sometimes and it doesn't drift... very easy to control once you get the hang of drone flying.

This is my first post... be kind please Smilie

In for one, especially for $20. Mainly grabbing this to check out my roof for loose singles before I climb up there.

That's exactly why I purchased one and to check the gutters.

buyer beware: i lost my last x5c exactly after 10 sec. it flew up and flew away never to be seen. Yes - i'm a novice who did not listen to warnings about this happening to many others thus newbies should either tie a string or practice indoors first. So, please, learn to fly this indoors and even after that, don't fly it too high or out-of-plain sight as this can just keep flying in the last ordered direction and fly away.

considering this deal now to apply my own teachings in practice

I bought one of these as my very first quad the last time it hit front page and I love it. I've bought two more since, one for the wife and one for a spare. I have a couple tips that may help other new people to avoid losing it.

Every time you turn on the remote, it defaults to a "low" mode. NEVER FLY OUTSIDE IN LOW MODE. The slightest breeze is enough to carry it away even at full throttle back to you when it is in low mode. To change it to "high" mode, press the top left button on the controller.

Paint half of it. This makes it so much easier and quicker to know which direction it is pointing while it's far away. Here is a picture of my three to show what I mean.

https://imgur.com/18RQG6l

I just used regular spray paint and painted it on top and bottom. "Up" on the right joystick makes it go in the painted direction. For me, my wife, and the few friends that flew our quads before and after painting them, everyone agrees that painting them made it much easier. I did pop off the light lenses on the underside and tape over the leds and the exposed gears.

Third thing to make it fly better in general and much better in wind. Take off all the extra stuff. The camera is gimmicky and gets old, so remove it when you aren't using it. Also remove the landing legs when you aren't using the camera. Also remove the blade guards once you've gotten the hang of flying. This is about an 18% weight reduction and a significant wind resistance reduction and makes the quad much faster.

How well does the camera work?
I actually think the video quality isn't bad, a bit grainy and definitely not good in low light. The camera is also fixed to the drone body, so as you are adjusting the position of the drone, it also moves the camera. There are videos taken with this drone posted in the Amazon reviews, so check them out. The price has dropped again, now $23.19 and a super fun toy at this price with the ability to take photos and video.

Cant kill this drone. It was my first and sat 75 feet up in a tree for months and through lots of rain storms. It finally dropped to the group. I put a freshly charged battery in it and it worked as new.

The end.

These are hands down one of the best starter drones you can buy. I paid 50 a while back for one without regrets. You can mod the antenna with a wifi antenna pretty easily and get some good range out of it.

I had this model one lost in a tree for two and half years - it just blew down in a windstorm a couple of months ago. It did not work.

I have two of these drones. I almost lost the 1st one a few times. What's funny is well kinda I was flying the drone and wasn't coming back. I quickly decided to turn the controller off. It fell pretty much straight down and landed right before the tree's. Surprisingly if was ok. After some other crashes one of the props stopped working so I got my 2nd one and now that I'm better it's been good.

I would only fly in high mode, no wind and keep the drone somewhat close definitely not that high. What's funny is I didn't realize you're supposed to register a drone if it's .55 pounds or higher and This drone is 1.6 pounds. I like this small drone because I can fly it in my backyard. I also have a Phantom 3. I can't do that. This Syma X5C is a great beginner drone. I bought a five pack of batteries that comes with a charger for like $20.
Its definitely not 1.6 lbs (thats the whole package with controller and everything), its 103g with prop guards and battery, which is .22 lbs. Anyone reading this, dont worry a thing about registration, buy one of these and have fun!

*The .55 lb rule went away for 2017 but came back in 2018. Registration is $5 for 3 years and its per drone (you will get an ID number that must be attached to the aircraft to be legal)

For me this is a deal breaker:
"7 Minute flight time and 100 minute charge time."

I need at least 15 to 20 minutes of flight time.
