I have a Braun infrared thermometer. The thing about these thermometers is that they have limited use. The best scenario to use one is if you have a child and don't want to wake him or her up. Both the person and thermometer have to be in the same room for 30 minutes still. This type of thermometer is not for any healthcare worker wanting to save time unless it stays in the patient room at all times, for about 30 minutes before checking temperature.

I would imagine it has something to do with ambient temperature calibration.

Go to page 6 in the manual: http://www.service-downloads.com/...4mar14.pdf

I believe this type of thermometer works using a formula using your surface temperature reading (much lower than internal) and ambient temperature.

I dont get why parents needs to be in the room for 30 mins?
